Momento 3.1

We have been hard at work over the past month actioning all the feedback we have received since the initial launch of Momento 3. Your feedback is an important part of helping us prioritise tasks we have planned and shaping the future functionality of Momento.

Momento 3.1 is now available to download, introducing local photo storage and local backups as well as numerous enhancements and large number of bug-fixes.

Local Photo Storage

Momento will now store a full-resolution copy of photos instead of referencing them from the Photo Library. This will allow you to delete photos from your Photo Library without affecting Momento. Any photos which were previously referenced will be automatically imported into Momento. If your device is low on space then Momento will reference the photos until there is space available to complete the copy.

Our original decision to reference photos was primarily to reduce duplication of images on devices and therefore reduce the storage requirements for Momento. Due to overwhelming demand we have reinstated local storage and have solutions planned for the future to improve storage efficiency.

Local Backups

Another popular request was for local backups — something particularly important for customers who prefer to store their data exclusively on their devices rather than in the cloud. Momento 3.1 now gives you the choice to store your backups locally (default) or in iCloud. Local backups can be copied to your computer for safe keeping via iTunes File Sharing.

We’re still working on a manual restore feature but in the meantime we recommend ensuring you keep regular device backups using iCloud or iTunes so you can restore from there should you lose, upgrade or damage your device.
